(egg tempura, encaustic work) Ria recreates the

Ria Teunisse
Born in The Netherlands and now living in the UK, Ria was educated at the art academies of The Hague and Leiden.
She first became interested in ancient Roman art after visiting museums and seeing the original Roman art. Her first frescoes were on the walls of a reconstruction of a Domus (Roman house)in the theme park of Archeon in the Netherlands.
From there she was commissioned by the Archbishop of Tarragona (then the senior Archbishop for the whole of Spain) to paint copies of early Christian fresco work in the Biblical museum in Tarragona.
Also interested in all the ancient painting techniques, she has studied the Roman/Egyptian Fayum portraits and gained much experience in the encaustic method.
As well as giving workshops, she is now available for public and private commission work.
Ria will be teaching Ancient Fresco Workshops
here in the UK in 2011.
